About Me

¡Hola! My name is Stephanie Flor Mejia and I’m so glad you’re here!

Taking that first step toward finding support is a big decision, and I am honored you are considering me to be a part of your journey. I believe that therapy is not about fixing what is broken, but about providing a compassionate space for you to truly flourish or, as we say in Spanish, florecer.

Education & Credentials

My clinical work began as a practicing therapy intern as part of my graduate program in 2021 and I received my Master's degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Capella University in 2022. I then completed three years as an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT) from 2022 to 2025. I earned my independent license as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California (LMFT #152911) in 2025. Across my 5 years of providing clinical support and therapy in various community mental health and outpatient clinics, I have helped clients from all walks of life navigate a wide range of challenges: from intense anxiety and depressive episodes to major identity shifts and life transitions.

Within my clinical work, I grew deeply passionate about Perinatal Mental Health. I completed advanced training with Postpartum Support International (PSI) and earned my Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) in 2026. I am specialized in providing advanced clinical support and therapy for mothers navigating the delicate landscape of pregnancy, postpartum, and early motherhood. My approach honors the profound psychological, emotional, and relational shifts of the perinatal journey, as well as the deep identity shifts that come with it. While my primary framework is individual therapy, I occasionally integrate partner-supported collateral sessions when clinically appropriate to help bridge communication gaps and cultivate a resilient foundation at home.

Cultural Roots & Bicultural Care

As a proud Latina therapist, my cultural background deeply shapes how I show up in the therapy room. I understand firsthand the unique blend of family expectations and cultural nuances (la familia, machismo, traditional roles, and generational shifts) that impact Hispanic and Latina mothers.

Navigating mental health in la comunidad can sometimes carry old stigmas, but you don't have to carry that weight alone. Whether you want to process maternal expectations, break generational cycles, or simply speak freely, I offer therapy in English, Spanish, or a natural mix of both (aka Spanglish) so you can express your thoughts without worrying about translation.

Beyond the Therapy Room

When I am not connecting and working with my clients, I am making my own attempts to practice what i preach and engage in self-care and self-nurturing. You can usually find me balancing between being adventurous outdoors and spending restful time at home. I love art in its many forms (crochet, painting, crafting, etc.), impromptu traveling, window shopping and making memories with my loved ones.
